ABOUT:
Yoga offers a practical method for working with Anxiety. Although Anxiety is a natural response to the stress of living, when prolonged it keeps the nervous system ramped up in the Fight & Flight state, with its different possible physical, physiological, emotional and mental components.
PHYSICAL – neck, shoulder and upper back tension, tight chest affecting breath
PHYSIOLOGICAL – increased heart rate, blood pressure, upset digestion, decreased immunity, disturbed sleep, headaches, erratic breath and panic attacks
EMOTION – fear like, unbridled erratic negative emotional states
MENTAL – obsessive or scattered thoughts, with an inability to gather or concentrate. Feeling disembodied, unable to make good choices and decision.
This class combines simple moments or yoga asanas combined with conscious breathing.
The breath work helps harness the mind on simple tasks which stops the flow of obsessive or repetitive thoughts, giving the conceptual mind a rest for the duration of the practise. An hours rest from destructive thoughts alongside a practise that relieves the physical tension accompanying anxiety, slows the breath, calms the nervous system, and any agitated physiological state; – Will leave you CALMER, more GROUNDED, and more able to FOCUS & RELAX.
